REMOVING BLOOD STAINS – FRESH OR OLD
Oh no! You notice there is blood on your clothes! Now how did that happen?? You look and notice you have a paper cut, you scratched yourself, bumped into something, or you scratched a bump which caused it to bleed. Don’t worry. You can relax because this blood stain or stains can be removed. Here’s how:
- Spray the blood stain with hydrogen peroxide or you can you use a sponge to dampen the stain.
- If the blood stain is fresh, you can let this sit for a minute or two.
- If the stain is dried or older, you will let this sit up to an hour. Make sure you saturate the stain with hydrogen peroxide.
- Apply a laundry pre-treater such as OxyClean or Shout. You can also use an enzyme-containing liquid laundry detergent.
- Finally, wash the clothes in warm water until the stain is gone.
Usually after the first wash, the stain is gone. And it’s just that simple. If you are wanting to use a more natural approach to removing blood stains, you can use baking soda and vinegar. You need to mix the baking soda with water until it forms a paste. Make sure the paste is not too thick; you will apply to paste to the stain, cover it entirely. After applying baking soda and vinegar, you will need to let this sit for 10 minutes or up to an hour – depending on how old or how fresh the stain is. Usually, the older the stain, the longer you will let these sit so they can thoroughly saturate the stain.
And there you have it! Easy as pie! Well, if I could make pie like my mom and grandmother. LOL! I hope you enjoyed reading this. More to come.
